Albuquerque fire crews quickly contained a brush fire near Bear Canyon Thursday evening.

Crews received the call around 5:45 p.m. and stopped any forward fire progress on scene. The quarter-acre fire has been contained.

When crews arrived several neighbors had worked to suppress the fire.

The Albuquerque Fire Department says the fire was caused by three juveniles who were playing with a campfire when a gust of wind drove the fire out of control. The juveniles called their parents, who then called 911.

No injuries have been reported and no homes were threatened.
