Congress voted Friday to pass a measure that would end furloughs of air traffic controllers and would keep two New Mexico control towers open for at least a few months longer.
The bill will allow the Federal Aviation Administration to use up to $253 million from airport improvement and other accounts to end the furlough through Sept. 30.
Both of the control towers at Double Eagle II Airport in West Albuquerque and the Santa Fe Airport were scheduled to close in June. The measure would keep them open.
