A man was killed by his own vehicle during a crash on Interstate 40 near the Rio Grande Boulevard exit Monday night.

Albuquerque police said a bicycle fell from a pickup truck and lodged into a vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle stopped and attempted to dislodge the bicycle.

His vehicle was rear ended and it ran the man over, police said.

Eastbound lanes on I-40 are closed west of Rio Grande Boulevard.

Drivers are advised to avoid Coors and the interstate.

Anyone who needs to get across the river should use Central or Bridge Boulevard.
