Home intruder shot in South Valley

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a shooting that happened late Tuesday night in the South Valley.

Deputies say at around 12:25 a.m., they received a call to the 5300 block of Southfort Drive SW. A homeowner said that someone tried to break into his home, and that the intruder had been shot.

The alleged intruder was brought to UNM Hospital and as of Wednesday morning, was in stable, but critical condition. Deputies say the homeowner is doing okay.

Deputies are not releasign the name of the suspect.

Deputies say they are speaking with the homeowner and other witnesses to determine exactly what happened. The homeowner is not facing any charges at this time.
