Speed may have been a factor in a deadly motorcycle crash Thursday night.

The crash occurred near Coors and Central around 8:30 p.m.

Albuquerque police say a motorcyclist, who has been identified as 52-year-old Donald Pope, was driving north on Coors just north of Gonzales when he struck a median. They said they believe the motorcycle flipped throwing Pope from the bike.

Pope was transported to UNM Hospital, where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Investigators aren't sure whether or not alcohol was a factor.
