Mesa del Sol developers met with stakeholders and residents Tuesday to discuss the future of their project.

After major partner Forest City left to pursue its core focus back in January, people wondered who’d step up. Today, Covington Capitol and Michael Daly, the other two developers, promised to take Forest City’s share over.

Residents came to the announcement worried, but left calm.

“I think it’ll be a premiere property,” Dean Savas said. “I think with the guidance, the right direction.”

Businesses relished the promise that planners are now set to build more homes. They’re ready for the rush.

“Now we have hours on the weekends, which gives residents an option to just walk to a café,” café owner Rosemarie Caballos-Hirning said.

Overall, today was about convincing Albuquerque that all 13,000 acres are still the same go.

“The master plan will stay the same,” Michael Daly said. “We’re not diverting from that.”
