Sexual assault in the military is a topic that is not often talked about.

The Annual Pentagon Report out Tuesday shows it is happening more often than anyone would like to think.

Sexually attacked at only 19 years old, Michael Matthews shared his horrific experience during a 4 On Your Side investigation earlier this year.

"Another guy is pulling my pants down and I'm trying to think, what the hell is going on, I was sodomized," Matthews said.

Matthews kept his attack a secret for 30 years.  Now he dedicates his life to openly speaking about it.  He said he is downright disgusted this is still going on and becoming increasingly prevalent.

Matthews now advocates for change, since statistics show, his story is shared by thousands.

"How angry am I?  13 years, that's what I've been doing," Matthews said.

The Annual Pentagon Report indicates more than 70 members of the military are sexually assaulted every day.

"It's pathetic and it's disgusting," Matthews said.

More than half of the victims are men, Matthews said.

"The perpetrators get away with it and they just keep going on, and the only persons they persecute and convict are the victims," Matthews said.  "Victims get kicked out of the military, not the perpetrators."

Matthews said it is time for Congress to step in and demand change.

"They don't want to hear it - they don't want anybody taking the control away from the commanders," Matthews said; adding, "We need to stop this."

To drive the point home even more, Matthews has a documentary coming out next month highlighting this very issue.  The film is called "Justice Denied." A screening will take place on June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the KiMo Theatre.
