New Mexico State will have a new starting quarterback this fall.  Redshirt junior Andrew Manley has been granted his release to transfer by head coach Doug Martin.

“We wish Andrew all the best,” Martin said in a released statement. “Obviously with all the changes in the offensive system he didn’t fit in as well the way he may have in the past. The competition at quarterback was going to be tougher for him this season, as well as some of the family matters he has, he wanted to get closer to home. We support Andrew and his decision.”

Manley started at quarterback for the Aggies in all 12 games in 2012. On the season, Manley threw for 2,764 yards and 18 touchdown passes, connecting on 53.9 percent of his passing attempts. He averaged 230.3 yards passing per game and 214.2 yards of total offense a contest. Manley also rushed for two scores on the year.
