Albuquerque Public Schools admitted Thursday night it's not ready to move ahead with plans to build a new traffic loop at Jefferson Middle School.

The loop is meant to make dropping off and picking up kids at the school easier – to relieve traffic problems in the area - but many don't like it.

Willa Pilar said the plan would put traffic just 8 feet away from her back gate.

One man who lives a block away from the school said he's happy that people are at least talking about fixing the problem.

"I really appreciate all the people being worried about it because I can see every morning  when i get out of the house the stress we all have there, he said.

School district officials told the crowd attending Thursday meeting on the subject it wants to conduct a traffic study and go over suggestions from the public before making any decision.
