The city of Albuquerque has arranged to open several cooling centers in light of the combination of Monday night’s power outage and the excessive heat the city is experiencing.

Over 1,900 residents are without power in the city. PNM estimates power should be restored by late Tuesday afternoon.

The centers will be opened to the public, free of charge for shelter, air conditioning and water.

The locations are as follows:

· Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center
501 Elizabeth SE

· Palo Duro Senior Center
5221 Palo Duro NE

· Mesa Verde Community Center
7900 Marquette NE

· Cesar Chavez Community Center
7505 Kathryn SE
