AFD extinguished a small brush fire near Alameda on the west bank of the Rio Grande Monday night.

The fire began at about 7 p.m. on the banks of the river. Before firefighters put it out, the fire took up about 150 feet around.  AFD was able to contain the blaze a little before 8 p.m.

No injuries or damage to structures were reported. The Bernalillo County Fire Department and Open Space are investigating.
