Ryan Begay, 19, is accused of shooting a 2-year-old girl.

The hunt is on for the suspected gunman in Wednesday's shooting of a 2-year-old girl.

APD has an arrest warrant out for 19-year-old Ryan Begay, who is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse, among other charges.

Police describe Begay as a Hispanic male with brown eyes and black hair, 5'9" in height and weighing around 160 pounds.

The suspect's girlfiend, 19-year-old Sabra Montoya, is wanted by APD on similar charges. She's described as a Hispanic female with brown eyes and hair, 5'2" in height and weighing around 135 pounds.

According to the criminal complaint, Begay and the girl's uncle were arguing outside a southeast Albuquerque residence when the suspect began shooting. The child was hit in the leg and taken to UNM Hospital by a relative.

Police arrested Samantha Montoya on Wednesday in connection to the shooting.

UNMH medical staff said the child was expected to be OK and held her in the hospital overnight for observation.
