The courtroom heated up Thursday as attorneys in the murder trial against ex-Albuquerque police officer Levi Chavez argued over showing the jury racy photos and videos.

Chavez's defense lawyer said he didn't want to risk showing the jury content not relevant to the case, including nude pictures and explicit videos of both Chavez and his wife, Tera.

Chavez is accused of shooting and killing Tera with his department-issued gun and then trying to make her death look like a suicide in 2007.

According to KOB Eyewitness News 4's courtroom reporter, authorities found 11 explicit videos of Tera on her phone, five of which were sent to another party. All were reportedly sexual in nature.

After hearing descriptions of the racy content, the judge ruled Thursday that only pictures would be shown to the jury.
