RAW VIDEO: Silver Fire burns 100,000 acres

Silver Fire update

The Silver Fire is growing by the day. The size of the wildfire burning in the Gila National Forest now tops 100,000 acres and is only 20 percent contained.

Nearly 760 people are working around the clock to try and stop the growth. Officials say the fire is very active, with flames spreading toward reed peak and west to McKnight Mountain.

A Public Meeting will take place on Friday June 28 at 6 p.m. at the new location of Roundup Lodge in the Mimbres Valley.

Jaroso Fire update

The Jaroso Fire burning in the Santa Fe National Forest north of Pecos is burning out of control.

Right now, it has destroyed more than 10,000 acres and is zero percent contained.

On Friday, Governor Martinez will meet with fire leaders, forest officials and the deputy secretary of homeland security and emergency management to talk about the wildfire fighting efforts.

A public meeting to discuss the Jaroso fire is also scheduled for later today at the Pendaries Community Center in Rociada at 5 p.m.
