Jurors in the murder trial of a former Albuquerque police officer learned Friday that Levi Chavez opened his own bank account about a month before his wife's death.

The audio of Chavez's deposition was played for the courtroom since he "wasn't appropriately dressed" in the video.

According to the deposition, Chavez opened his own bank account and received his first social security deposit of benefits less than ten days after Tera's death.

APD detective Heather Chavez, who married Chavez in July 2008, also took the stand on Friday. She said she attended Tera's funeral and became intimate with Chavez a couple months after her death.

The trial is ongoing. Follow live updates from KOB Eyewitness News 4's courtroom reporter on Twitter: @JosephLeeLynch
