A homeless bicyclist was remembered today during a small ceremony near Lomas and I-25 where he died.

That is where friends of Mike Ryan had a moment of silence as they dedicated a ghost bike in his memory.

Ghost bikes are white bicycles that marks where a bicyclist has been killed, memorials that friends say always made Ryan uncomfortable when he was alive.

Jim Schultz remembers, "When Mike used to ride his bike by ghost bikes he hated them, so this is a hard thing for us to do it sent chills up his spine and he didn't really like them but they do make people think about it and open their eyes."

Ryan was killed last year after running a red light on his bicycle.

Because there was no money for a burial, his body was left at the Office of the Medical investigator for months until it was cremated by the county.

Friends are now trying to raise almost $500 to have his remains released to them so they can spread his ashes.
