An Albuquerque mother is facing child abuse charges after a trip to McDonald's.

Police say 30-year old Stephanie Austin took her 3-year old son to the hospital with severe injuries.

Austin told the staff her son had fallen off a bike.

When interviewed by police, Austin stated that her son had been run over by an SUV that she left in park while she went inside her home.

Police say after the accident, she cleaned the boy up, waited 30 minutes and then took him to a McDonald's to get him a happy meal before taking the child to the hospital.

The boy was bleeding from the head, arms and legs.

He is expected to recover.
