University of New Mexico men's basketball coach Craig Neal released the non-conference schedule for the upcoming season.  The Lobos open the year with back-to-back home games.  UNM will start the season against Alabama A&M on November 9th followed by a matchup at the Pit against Charleston Southern on November 17th.

UNM will play in the Charleston Classic November 21-24, opening up against UAB.  Nebraska, Massachusetts, Clemson, Davidson, Georgia and Temple are also in the field.

After a home game against San Diego on November 30th, the schedule hits a tough stretch. There won't be any gifts this December for the UNM men's basketball team.  The Lobos will play five straight games in early December against NCAA Tournament teams (Cincinnati, Kansas, Marquette and New Mexico State twice).

“The Marquette game is at the MGM Grand, and that will really give us a chance to play in an arena that is a true neutral site, and give our guys a chance to play in a tournament-type atmosphere,” said Neal in a released statement.  “Games like that and the Kansas game are to help us get better in the NCAA Tournament, and those opponents and arena prepare us for that.”

UNM wraps up the non-conference schedule with a home game against Grand Canyon.  The December 23rd game will mark the return to the Pit for Demetrius Walker who transferred to the Arizona school during the offseason.
