An Albuquerque woman has been charged with trying to smuggle drugs into prison.

State Police say Kathryn Lopez tried to get suboxone to her boyfriend, Ricardo Sisneros, at the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas.

Guards say they found the drugs hidden in letters delivered by the U.S. Postal Service in June.

That is when they started an investigation.

During the investigation police say they learned Lopez may have been working with Sisneros’ mother and two other inmates to smuggle the drugs into the prison using regular mail.
