A Walmart employee in Hobbs is accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the company. He did it gradually, smaller amounts over time.  Until eventually he was caught on camera.

It was not until Walmart realized over $106,000 was lost until they investigated their Money Gram Service.

Victor Castillo was an employee at the Money Service Center.  That is where he is accused of pocketing thousands of dollars from the company, and it was all caught on surveillance video.

According to the crime report, Castillo would create a money order, then shut off the computer as the money order printed so it was not recorded in the system, but a valid money order would still be printed.

Police said he did that 110 times, each transaction hitting just under a thousand dollars.  Investigators said sometimes he would do ten in one day.

Captain Walker from Hobbs Police said after Walmart caught on, they allowed him to continue working.  They set up cameras where they caught him in the act.

"For a lot of people, once they get away with it once or twice, they get more and more comfortable with it and they just continue until they get caught," said Walker.

Castillo is now behind bars at the Lea County Detention Center.
