Same-sex marriage has the green light from Santa Fe County commissioners.

A gay marriage resolution was passed at last night's commission meeting.

The resolution urges the state legislature to make changes to specifically allow same-sex marriage in New Mexico.

The resolution also shows support for county clerk Geraldine Salazar, who faces a lawsuit for denying a marriage license to a same-sex couple.

The resolution points out that it's the clerk's job to follow the law. While the law states marriage is between two parties, the Santa Fe County marriage application asks to list a male applicant and female applicant.
