GALLUP, N.M. (AP) - A 20-year-old man has been arrested after police investigating as much as $250,000 of vandalism at a Gallup middle school found a backpack with a pawn receipt inside.
The Gallup Independent reports that damage done early Wednesday morning to John F. Middle School included broken windows, smashed wallboard, shattered skylights and a busted sprinkler line.
Police arrested Michael DeArmond. He's charged with burglary, criminal damage to property over $1,000, possession of burglary tools and resisting, evading and obstructing an officer.
It's not immediately known whether he has an attorney.
