ROSWELL -- A lost child was discovered dehydrated and covered in ants at the "Family First" event at Cielo Grande Park over the weekend.

A firefighter found the child wandering alone in the parking lot on Saturday night. An announcement was made that a small child had been found, but after 30 minutes of no response, event coordinators contacted Roswell police.

Around 6 p.m., the sibling of the lost child was also found alone without adult supervision.

Volunteers found the mother of both children one hour later. Police said she did not appear concerned about their absence and was unaware that one had been missing for more than an hour.

When questioned by authorities, she stated that she hadn't been concerned because it was a family event.

The Children, Youth and Families Department has been notified of the incident.
