About 1 in 8 preschoolers are obese in the United States, but a new federal report said New Mexico is one of the few states where the epidemic is going down.

New Mexico is one of 19 states where obesity among low-income preschoolers has declined.

New Mexico joins states like California, Idaho and Washington. Some of the states were obesity is increasing include, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Colorado.

The CDC suggests ways for parents to help promote a healthy lifestyle for your child, like starting out with a healthy breakfast and walking to school and to the park.
