As University of New Mexico students head back to class today, campus police are rolling out a new safety program.

Last school year, UNM dealt with some groping incidents on campus as students were walking to and from class. In response, the university has made it easier for students to report attacks.

UNM's new online system lets students log in and report crimes happening on campus.

“We think it's the right time to roll it out as we turn to a more residential campus and we have more students who will be staying on weekends rather than what we had several years ago,” said Kathy Guimond, UNM’s chief of police.

Students can log on any time of day to reports crimes and police say they will work quickly to respond.
