An Albuquerque police officer is facing assault and battery charges after a dispute with his pregnant wife in their Los Lunas home.

Usually, disputes between couples in their home are private matters, but the situation between APD officer Jared Foulk and his wife Leilani rose to the level where Valencia County deputies had to interfere.

A report states the two were fighting over a cell phone when Foulk allegedly pushed his wife between a couch and an end table. Foulk also reportedly grabbed his wife's wrists and jerked her back and forth while twisting her arm to get the phone.

The Valencia County Sheriff's Office report states Foulk then got dressed in his APD uniform and went to work. His wife, meanwhile, called for help because she was suffering from pain and is far along in her pregnancy.

According to an APD spokesperson, Foulk has been with the department since November 2010 and is assigned to the Southwest Area Command. He's been placed on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
