ALBUQUERQUE -- Officers responded to reports of a barricaded man at a Foothills apartment early Wednesday.

According to APD, the man held a gun to his head as officers arrived to Copper Ridge Apartment just after midnight.

Police established a perimeter around the man and residents were asked to remain inside. Officers on scene found out that the APD Crisis Intervention Team had worked with the man for previous suicide threats.

CIT officers arrived and spoke with the man by telephone. He surrendered peacefully around 2:30 a.m. and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

A part of Tramway was shut down for a few hours during the incident.
