TIJERAS, N.M. -- A homeowner shot and killed a bear reportedly trying to break into a house in Tijeras on Friday morning.

According to Sgt. Aaron Williamson of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, the homeowner fired a shot to scare the bear off when it showed up in the backyard.

A short time later, the bear reportedly came back and tried to get into the home. That's when the resident shot the bear.
