TAOS, N.M. -- A registered Albuquerque sex offender who was on the run from authorities was arrested Friday.

Thomas Gay, a registered sex offender in Bernalillo County, was wanted on charges related to the molestation of four young children at Elephant Butte State Park. Deputies believed he had fled in a camper to Taos.

Yesterday afternoon, U.S. Marshals were tipped off that Gay had been seen with his girlfriend at the bottom of the Rio Grande Gorge underneath the John Dunn Bridge.

They found Gay getting out of his camper and arrested him. He is awaiting extradition back to Sierra County to face charges of criminal sexual contact of a minor, aggravated indecent exposure and providing alcohol to minors.
