A handful of couples showed up this afternoon at the Bernalillo County Clerk's office, but they could not actually get their licenses today. They'll have to wait until Tuesday morning at eight when the doors on the building open.
Still, KOB Eyewitness News 4 was there as folks were filling out their applications. The clerk's office printed out some of the paperwork.
The reason for the delay is that Bernalillo County still has to get its computer system up to speed. They say they are working as fast as they possibly can.
Bottom line, all the couples KOB saw here today are happy that they can finally begin this process, and they're willing to wait one more day if they have to.
The clerk's office had pre-printed 1,000 licenses on Friday. They have not printed anymore, awaiting possible legal challenges in days to come.
