University of New Mexico football coach Bob Davie held his first weekly press conference of the new season.  The Lobos open the year Saturday against UT-San Antonio.  We asked Davie if senior running back Kasey Carrier would see as many carries this season.  Davie responded by making the comparison to the controversial decision by New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan to play starter Mark Sanchez late in a preseason game and the quarterback injured his shoulder.

"We didn't bang on him (Kasey) a whole lot, we didn't need to.  Kind of like Rex Ryan maybe didn't need to see (Mark) Sanchez late in that game," said Davie.

Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 6pm with fireworks to follow.  The first 2,500 fans will receive a Bob Davie bobblehead.
