ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - Alamogordo Mayor Susie Galea has spent more money on travel in a six-month period than her predecessor during a window nearly three times as long.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports that new released records show that Galea spent about $5,946 between July 2012 and January 2013 on 10 trips.

Record show that during a 17-month time period in 2010 and 2011, then-mayor Ron Griggs, now a state senator, spent $3,544 on nine trips.

The expenses spring from nine trips, most of them inside the state to places like Santa Fe and Ruidoso, but three to other states such as Texas, Montana and Arizona.

Galea says her travel was for economic development or military relations.
