Three confirmed dead in helicopter crash

New Mexico State Police responded to the scene of a deadly helicopter crash just south of Truth or Consequences on Saturday.

Spokesperson Emmanuel Gutierrez confirmed to KOB Eyewitness News 4 that officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 187 near mile marker 30 to investigate. 

The location is approximately five miles south of Truth or Consequences.

Three people have been confirmed dead.

They have been identified as: William Brownfield, 61, of Caballo, N.M.; Duane Zietlow, 78, of Elephant Butte, N.M.; and pilot Ebenezer Priebe, 34, of Tucson, Ariz.

The cause of this crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.  

Police told KOB Eyewitness News 4 that the helicopter hit a power line.

OMI officials and the T or C fire department also showed up to help on the scene.
