One person is dead, and another critically injured after a mother, father, and daughter were all shot in the head at a Jarales home on Saturday.

Police are investigating, but have so far made no arrests in the case.

The father, 54-year-old Wesley Hobbs was killed.

His 24-year-old daughter, Amanda Hobs, is in critical condition at UNM hospital.

Mother Patricia Hobbs was amazingly treated and released.

According to the Valencia County Sheriff, the shooting happened at 458 Jarales Road just after 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Investigators said the 9-11 call came from inside the house, and when police arrived there were no signs of forced entry.

"All of the gunshot wounds appear to be directly to the head," said Valencia County Sheriff Louis Burkhard.

Neighbors in the small community south of Belen woke to lights and sirens swarming the home.

A Hobbs family friend who identified herself as Valerie asked our crew what had happened, and broke into tears when she learned the news.

"A father, a mother, and two children," she said.

Neighbors said the Hobbs were a family of four; son Johnny Hobbs was not believed to be at home at the time of the shooting, but investigators have not confirmed that detail.

Sylvia Gurule lives across the street from the home; she said Patricia Hobbs works as a substitute aid at Rio Grande Elementary.

"I would see her out there in the yard, watering her lawn, he'd be out there," said Gurule.

She said husband Wesley and his wife were often together. Gurule said son Johnny was at the home often, too.

"He would wave at me every time he'd go by," she said.

Francisco Barela lives nearby he said he saw a victim air-lifted to a fire station nearby.

"This morning I got up around 5 o'clock, there was an ambulance and spotlight," he said. "All of a sudden I see a helicopter come down, a rescue unit. They sat there with a body or something."

Burkhard said as of now, there aren't any suspects in the shooting.

"We haven't established a clear motive for the shootings at this time, but we are working some leads and working on obtaining some search warrants," said Burkhard.

Police say they have not ruled anything out, but Burkhard said none of the victims' gunshot wounds appear to be self-inflicted.
