Rio Rancho Schools will be keeping some students at their schools because of dangerous road conditions for school buses.

Statement from Rio Rancho Schools:

Due to flooding in portions of Rio Rancho, some roads are impassible and unsafe for school buses.

Therefore, our buses will not be delivering students to some stops, particularly stops located off of Northern Blvd. and west of 10th Street NW. Students who ride the bus to these stops will be held at school and parents may come to the school and pick up their child.

Parents are being contacted via the district's phone notification system if their child's stop is affected. The affected buses are:

Colinas del Norte Elementary 481 and 468
Eagle Ridge Middle 483 and 206
Rio Rancho High 469
Puesta del Sol Elementary 266
Rio Rancho Middle 466
Cleveland High 264

Roads are improving slowly. Many areas affected earlier on Southern Boulevard west of Hondo Road are now passable and buses will be running in those areas.

Parents should keep in mind that buses are taking extra care due to road conditions and some buses not affected by road closures may run late today.

Road conditions on Northern and 10th are preventing school buses from transporting kids.
