RIO RANCHO -- Hundreds of jobs have been cut from the Intel plant in Rio Rancho.

According to Natasha Martell, a spokesperson for the company, Intel is "redeploying" 400 of the plant's 3,300 positions. Some employees are retiring voluntary, others are being offered separation packages and some will be relocated to other Intel plants.

Martell cited a "shifting market" as the reason for Intel's decision.

The Rio Rancho plant will continue to produce Intel products.
