The Albuquerque metro was prepared for the worst, but the worst did not happen.
The bosque re-opened on Saturday morning.
The river flow peaked at more than 5,000 cubic feet per second overnight, but Friday’s flood warning was canceled on Saturday.
"Though the river was bank to bank, it was able to hold all the water and of course the levees were there as a backup in case, but it didn't get nearly that hight," said Mary Carlson of the federal Bureau of Reclamation.
Carlson said that a habitat restoration north of the city and Cochiti dam also helped.
The Albuquerque Police Department and the Albuquerque Fire Department will continue to monitor the bosque open space.
