The downpour in Albuquerque over the weekend sent mud sliding into one couple's backyard in Taylor Ranch.

They were digging out all day on Sunday.

At least 4 feet of mud filled the backyard.

Charles Trujillo says the rain and mud poured down the Petroglyphs on Saturday night and knocked down their cinder block wall.

As Trujillo fought to stay on top of flooding water coming into their home, the mud was filling up outside.

"I could hear noise down here and I thought it was the rain on the outside that was making a lot of noise, but it was the water rushing in that was making noise," Trujillo said.

He says it's going to take some time to dig out the rest of the mud and repair the flood damage inside their home.

Several neighbors say they believe work and blasting being done on a housing development on the top of the Petroglyphs behind Trujillo's home loosened the soil.

They say that made it more susceptible to a mudslide when the heavy rain came down.

We tried contacting the company overseeing the development project, but have not yet heard back.
