Things are starting to dry up in Madrid.

A flooded theater got a helping hand from the community.

And now, the cast and crew are coming together to help their town.

Residents in Madrid lost access to their homes, businesses were filled with mud, but that’s not stopping a long-standing tradition from happening this weekend.

"The show must go on, right,” said Lori Lindsey with a smile.

Just a few days ago, the applause inside Lindsey’s historic Engine House Theater was replaced by loud rain.

A dress rehearsal for Madrid’s annual He-She Bang Fundraiser almost go washed away with the building.

"This is a metal building so the water was able to find holes and spaces and literally created a waterfall," remembers Lindsey.

Coal slid down a hillside, the theater and museum was right in its path.

The damage actually could have been worse had it not been for two fences in place.

"To have this be recovered as quickly as it has is just unbelievable to me," said Lindsey.

Residents, or Madroids as they call themselves, stepped in to clean out the theater.

"It's been really inspiring to watch the community come together," said Carol Carpenter.

In the spirit of community, this weekend’s production will help raise money to rebuild washed out roads.

Other proceeds will also go to the Madrid Emergency Dental.

"So that we can get more funding to for the backhoe operators that we need to come into town and gravel for everyone's driveways," said Lindsey.

The He-She Bang Fundraiser takes place this Friday and Saturday.

The money raised Saturday will go toward the relief efforts.
