ALBUQUERQUE -- Prosecutors are expected to wrap up Monday in the case involving a prison escapee accused of killing an Oklahoma couple in New Mexico.

John McCluskey is accused of shooting Gary and Linda Haas in Santa Rosa in 2010.

The prosecution has taken about five weeks for witness testimony, including the woman who police said helped McCluskey escape prison. Prosecutors hope to prove to the jury that McCluskey was not only the one who shot the couple inside their trailer, but that he actually wanted and planned to kill them.

This past week, Cassalyn Welsh, McCluskey's cousin-turned-girlfriend, described what she says happened. Welch has always said that McCluskey was the one who pulled the trigger and killed the Oklahoma couple.

If convicted, McCluskey faces the death penalty.
