NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) -- Clogged pipes are among the most common problems for homeowners, and in many cases, it's preventable.

Experts say consumer culture is the biggest problem.

"They are flushing things like paper towels, the wipes that they use now, q-tips," said Dave Tourville of the types of products people shouldn't flush down a drain.

Tourville owns Mr. Rooter in Holyoke, Massachusetts and says clogged toilets and clogged pipes are the most common service calls.

"If there's any flaw in the pipe at all, as they go down the pipe, they will catch on that flaw.  And start to damn up and create a back up," said Tourville inside his Lyman Street office.
