One person is dead and four others injured after a crash on Atrisco Vista Boulevard over I-40 on Wednesday.

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, Frank Apachee, Jr. was driving a white Chevy truck west on I-40 around noon. Authorities said Apachee exited the freeway at Atrisco Vista and failed to stop at the stop sign at the end of the off ramp.

Apachee continued through the intersection where he was struck by a black Mitsubishi SUV traveling south on Atrisco Vista. Frank Apachee, Sr. was riding in the back seat of the truck and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi and two passengers were transported to UNMH with non-life threatening injuries.

Apachee, Jr. was transported to UNMH for evaluation. When released, authorities say he will be booked into MDC charged with vehicular homicide. The investigation is ongoing, however, alcohol does appear to be a factor in this crash, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.

Atrisco Vista was closed in both directions over I-40--along with the westbound exit ramp--for nearly two hours after the crash.
