ALBUQUERQUE -- It's a girl! A baby elephant born early Wednesday is now the seventh member of the Albuquerque BioPark zoo's herd.

Zookeepers introduced the newborn calf at a news conference on Thursday morning.

Officials said the calf is healthy and bonding well with her mom, Rozie the Asian elephant. The newborn will meet her sister, Daizy, and grandmother, Alice, in a few days.

Rozie was the first elephant born at the BioPark in 1992.

The new calf will make her zoo debut in the coming weeks, and once again, the public will be invited to vote on a name.
