A lot of the action at Balloon Fiesta happens up in the sky, but down on the ground several events take place, like the chainsaw carving competition.

The winner of last year's event is back trying to defend his title. But he's having a little trouble concentrating because his truck was stolen Tuesday night.

Jordan Anderson takes any old tree stump and uses a chainsaw to sculpt it into beautiful pieces of art like mermaids and eagles.

Anderson is from Alaska. He drove from his winter home in California to compete in the Albuquerque Chainsaw Carving Invitational, which he won last year.

"I started chainsaw carving just because of this competition, and it was four years later that I won the invitational here," Anderson said.

Anderson's black Ford F-250 with his information all over it was stolen from the hotel he was staying in: the days Inn on Menaul and University.

"I got a lot pressure on me as it is, coming in as the returning champion, and so it's hard to have this overwhelming thing on my mind," Anderson said.

Luckily, Anderson's trailer, with all of his equipment and artwork, was parked at Balloon Fiesta Park. But his chainsaw he won earlier this week, his camera, and his iPad were all inside.

"I've got some pieces to deliver to Colorado so without my truck, I'm kind of stuck in Albuquerque for a little while," Anderson said.

He's just hoping someone can help bring his truck back to him and he can keep his eye on the prize.

"It's a little tough to focus on an amazing sculpture you know, it might turn into a nice toothpick when you got this on your mind," Anderson said.

If you have any information, please call Albuquerque police.
