ALBUQUERQUE -- More than 50 civilian employees in Albuquerque were set to be furloughed on Monday due to the government shutdown. But thanks to the state, they'll be on the job for another week.
Gov. Susana Martinez's office said there are 55 employees at the Albuquerque New Mexico National Guard facility who are paid by the federal government.
The state has agreed to pay their salaries this week. Officials will then decide whether or not they will continue to pay the employees for another week.
A spokesman for Gov. Martinez's office said the state hopes to be reimbursed by the federal government after the shutdown is over.
