Many people in northern New Mexico are waking up to winter wonderlands in the their backyards on Wednesday.

Areas from Cimarron to Black Lake and Cowles saw three to five inches of snow overnight. Los Alamos, Tijeras and Sedillo Hill saw a dusting to an inch of snow.

A winter weather advisory for the northern part of the state is expected to last until 11 a.m. The storm is predicted to blow over by noon.

NMDOT is urging motorists near Mora, Angel Fire and Red River to drive cautiously due to slick and icy road conditions. Some highways affected by the weather this morning include NM 518 from Las Vegas to Mora, NM 434 from Mora to Aqua Fria, NM 38 from Idlewild to Red River and US 64 from Aqua Fria to Cimarron.
