It was an emotional morning for some Vietnam War veterans as they put together The
Moving Wall in Rio Rancho.
The wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The origins of The Moving Wall stem from John Devitt, who attended the 1982 dedication ceremony and vowed to share his experience with those who did not have the opportunity to travel to see it.
Devitt, along with other Vietnam veterans, built The Moving Wall and put it on display for the first time in 1984. For the last 30 years, The Moving Wall has traveled across the United States.
Visitors can see The Moving Wall at the Rio Rancho Sports Complex at no charge. The wall will remain on display 24/7 until Monday, Oct. 21.
