New Mexico citizens donated nearly $9,000 to KOB Eyewitness News 4's hotline to benefit first responders injured in the line of duty.

Monday night's phone bank raised money for the Ten-82 fund, which helps injured officers and their families cover expenses not covered by insurance or the department during their times of need.

All of the donated funds will go toward helping the Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy and Albuquerque police officers shot over the weekend, as well as the two state police officers injured in shootings last week.

"I think the perception by many is that we have great insurance and that's a fix for it all, but there are unexpected and expected costs," said Jemez Pueblo Police Chief Pete Camacho. "We don't want them to worry about any finances whatsoever, we just want them to focus on getting well."

You can still donate to the Ten-82 Foundation by calling (505)-417-1694 or by mail to:

Ten-82 Corporation
1101 Cielo Vista Del Norte
Corrales NM 87048
