WICHITA, Kan. (KSN) -- It is a little machine that packs a big punch.
The Xenex room disinfection system, dubbed Johnny 5, made it's debut at Wesley Hospital Tuesday morning.
"We can't see what might still be on the surface, so that 50 percent constitutes enough of a risk to the next patient, that what we're trying to do here is add that final layer of patient safety by getting rid of any remaining contamination," said Rachael Sparks, Xenex Disinfection Services.
In a matter of minutes, the machine starts up and with a pulsing Xenon UV lamp goes to work.
The system will be used to disinfect various areas ranging from patient rooms to operating rooms.
