New Mexico State Police confirm I-40 has reopened after being shut down for several hours for a fatal crash investigation Friday morning.
According to NMDOT, all traffic was diverted onto NM 122 at the Thoreau exit while OMI conducted its investigation.
Around 8:45 a.m., a passenger car traveling eastbound crossed over the median and struck a westbound tractor trailer, according to state police. The woman in the passenger vehicle died at the scene.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
